The crew of the Tranquilo had to wait out a long day with the news that Reel Gold had boated a blue marlin that may be close to the minimum qualifying weight of 300lbs. Around the same time they received the news that Reel Gold’s fish did not qualify they also heard the news that Coast Wide Sportfishing had boated a blue at 4:31pm. The celebration would have to wait out another couple of hours to get the news that the Coast Wide blue missed the qualifying weight by 53lbs. The 399lb black marlin caught by angler Michael Moretti was the only qualifying fish in the tournament earning the Tranquilo top honors in the Bisbees Los Cabos Billfish Tournament.
Moments after receiving the news of the victory an emotional Capt Victor Julio Lopez said,” God is big and God is good. Now I can help my daughter go off to fulfill her dreams of studying pharmacy”. Owner/angler Ken Cofer had said earlier prior to hearing the news that no matter what the outcome he was grateful to be fishing with such a fine team.
The duo of Keith and Kalab Richardson also had an impressive showing on the Expedition. Capt Wilks Hammock lead the team to a first place finish with 12 striped marlin releases. Congrats to the Expedition on an excellent tournament.
Congrats to both crews on a fine tournament. Next up the BIG ONE. Bisbees Black and Blue.
